Our Learning: ICT, History & Geography
Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
At Myatt Garden, we have three sets of laptops for whole class teaching in KS1 and KS2.
As well as being taught as a discreet subject, ICT plays an important part in our teaching across the curriculum, particularly in the teaching of art and design technology. This year, we have invested in some new technology for KS2 with the purchase of four touch smart screens. These will lead the way in making lessons more interactive with the use of Microsoft Surface software.
We are also using new creative software called ‘Purple Mash’. This is an online creative resource for all children from Nursery to Year 6 to use in school and at home.
History and Geography
Topics and stories, as well as hands-on experiences form the basis of the teaching of humanities in KS1. The children’s own experiences are important as they question the past and observe the world they live in.
At KS2, a variety of resources are used to develop perception and investigative skills. We want the children to gain a realistic and relevant picture of the world they live in today, the world of other cultures and the world of the past.
