Happy Friday Everyone!

Proud to Be….

We were so impressed with the high quality posters that children submitted for our recent competition. As part of our Black History Month, we asked children to design a poster all about what they are proud of. Among other things, they told us they were proud of where they were born, their family, their talents, their religion and their achievements.  It was really difficult to choose some winners, but we finally decided on:

Key Stage One & Early Years – winner Kaya (Yr 1) and runner-up Seth (Rec)

Key Stage Two – winner Inika (Yr 3) and runner-up Ellen (Yr 3)

Thank you to everyone who took part. We loved the way you embraced and celebrated your identity – well done everyone on your bold designs!

Anti-bullying week

This week we kicked off our week with Odd Socks day to remind everyone that at Myatt Garden we celebrate difference and the uniqueness of every child.

All staff and children from Year 1 – 6 participated in a special assembly where we focussed on the definition of bullying, different sorts of bullying and what we do at Myatt Garden to tackle bullying. We emphasised that the most important word is TELL and how we ensure that issues are addressed.   Every class also learnt about bullying in specific lessons adapted for each year group.

Visit from Lewisham’s Executive Director

We gave a warm Myatt welcome to Pinaki Goshal (Executive Director Children & Young People’s Services) this week. Having started this role in June 2020, he has only recently been able to get out into Lewisham schools. He spent Monday morning visiting classes and the playground. We were proud to show him our vibrant classrooms, polite, enthusiastic children and engaging learning. He was impressed with how articulate our pupils were, the positive energy in classrooms and warm, community feel of our school.

Children in Need

It was lovely to see lots of our children dressing up and wearing yellow or spots today for Children in Need. Thank you to everyone who contributed some money, we have raised over £330.

Book Club

The deadline for our Scholastic Book Club has changed to better help with your Christmas Shopping!

The latest date you can place your order at: is now November 30th, 2021.

If you haven’t ordered yet, why not take a look at some of the great offers across a huge range of titles. Every order earns free books for our school. Thank you for your continued support.

Myatt Mentors

We now have a team of over 60 Year 5 and 6 mentors who are busy helping out at lunch-time play. The children work in four teams supporting our youngest children in the top playground and helping out in the dining halls. We love the fact that they want to get stuck in and contribute to making Myatt Garden a better place.
