Y5 Ms Steel’s Class horse Riding

February 25, 2014 @ 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

Dear Parent/Carer,

As part of Year 5’s topic on ‘Loving London’ the children will be looking into the role horses have played in the city both historically and in the modern day.

To enhance this unit of work we will be taking the children to visit the Willowtree stables in Lee where they will learn about the care of horses and some of the professions associated with them (farrier, vet etc). The children will all visit the stables 3 times over a period of weeks (dates below).

On each of their three visits the children will also have the opportunity to have horse riding lessons. These lessons will be taught by fully qualified instructors and take place in the stables indoor riding school.

These visits are free. Children will need a packed lunch as they may not be back in school in time for school dinner. If your child has free school meals, a packed lunch will be provided for them. They will need suitable clothes (long trousers, long sleeves) and shoes with a small heel (so their feet don’t slip off the stirrups).

Tuesday 25th February – Mrs Steel’s class.
Tuesday 4th March- Ms Coy’s class.
Thursday 6th March- Mrs Steel’s class.
Thursday 20th March- Ms Coy’s class.
Thursday 3rd April- Mrs Steel’s class.

Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Year 5 Team.
