Year 1: Farm Trip – Morgan/Morkus Class

June 26, 2018 – June 27, 2018 all-day

Mrs Morgan & Mrs Morkus’s class Wednesday 27th June

After the success of last year’s visit, we are going back to Torry Hill Farm, a working farm in Kent.

These trips are made possible by The Country Trust, who only offer this experience to a few London schools, so we feel lucky to have been chosen. With the farmer, we will pick and eat cherries from the trees, take a country walk through the fields and meet some of the farm animals.

The cost is £6.00 per child. This covers the coach hire – entrance to the farm is free. A big thank you goes to the PTA for subsidising the trip – and to the Country Trust who have also provided significant funding – without this help the trip would be a lot less affordable for all. We know from the success of last year’s trip that it will be a wonderful and memorable experience for the children.

Children will need to arrive in school by 8:30am so we can leave early. We will travel to the farm by coach and aim to be back at school for 3.30pm, depending on traffic.

Children will need to bring a packed lunch and a bottle of water. Don’t forget that all children are entitled to a FREE school packed lunch.  Packed lunches should be in a suitable hands free bag/rucksackNO glass containers, sweets, chocolate bars or fizzy drinks are allowed. If your child receives free school meals a school packed lunch will be provided. Please sign the list on classroom doors if you want to order a school packed lunch.

We’ll be walking across farm fields, so to protect their feet and legs all children will need to wear sensible outdoor clothing – long trousers and comfortable footwear (trainers are ideal – no sandals or slip-on shoes please).

Depending on the weather they will also need a sun hat or rain-coat (probably safest to bring both). Please apply sunscreen at home, if the sun is shining – fingers crossed!

Please return your £6.00, in an envelope with your child’s name written on the front to our TAs, Helen or Lena, before Monday 25th June.

Please sign up on the sheets in your child’s class if you are able to help out with the trip for the whole day. As the numbers on the coach are limited it will not be possible to take everyone who signs up to help, so we will pull names from a hat to make things as fair as possible. Parent helpers do not need to pay for their seat on the coach, but will need to bring a packed lunch.

Please note that as this is a working farm, pregnant women are advised NOT to come on this trip.
