Dear Parent/Carer,
As part of our topic ‘Fins, Wings and Flying Things’, we will be visiting the London Sealife Aquarium on Wednesday 11th March. The aquarium contains a world leading marine-life collection with over 500 species to investigate, from every part of the world! We will see sharks, sting-rays, turtles, Clownfish, Jelly fish, piranhas and many more.
In addition to public feedings and rock pools which allow children to touch crabs and starfish we have also booked a workshop called ‘Commotion in the ocean’ which is an interactive session designed to teach children classification, adaptation and amazing facts about marine life.

We would be grateful for a contribution of £5.50 towards the cost of the trip. There is a charge of £8.00 per child for this exciting trip. We recognise this is a large amount of money but visiting Europe’s premier Aquarium is an amazing experience, and when combined with the workshop, a valuable learning opportunity that links to our curriculum. Please give £5.50 in a named envelope to your class teacher. Please remember that if your child is entitled to Pupil Premium, your contribution to the cost of the trip has been covered by the funding we receive. You can check entitlement with your class teacher or the office.

Please ensure your child arrives at school by 9.15am so that they can be registered quickly. We will be leaving the school fairly promptly and will not be able to wait for late-comers. We will be back at school by 3.25pm.
Please ensure your child is suitably dressed for the day (sensible walking footwear and a coat). Your child will need a packed lunch on that day (No sweets, fizzy drinks or glass containers for drinks please). Remember you are entitled to a free school packed lunch. If your child would like one, please let your class teacher know as soon as possible.

We would like to take several parents along with us who are willing to walk with small groups of children and support their learning. Please inform the class teacher as soon as possible if you are available to help. Those parents coming will be chosen out of a hat and will be informed in person. If you would like to come, you must have filled out a List 99 at the school office this academic year. Adults are not allowed to attend school trips without this check being done.
Thank you for your support as always,

The Year 2 Team
