COVID update

I want to thank everyone for the way that you have pulled together since our return to school, to keep school as safe as we can. By remaining vigilant and doing regular lateral flow tests, you are helping us to manage the high infection rate in the local community.

At present we have a significant amount of positive cases in Year 5, with an increasing number across the rest of the school. This is now to an extent that it is impossible to update individual classes each time we have a new case.

The numbers are heading in the right direction, so hopefully things will ease week by week – however it’s important we stay alert.

Testing and isolating

Remember:

  • if you have no symptoms you use a lateral flow to check. From today, any positive lateral flow test no longer needs to be confirmed by a PCR;
  • anyone with symptoms still needs to do a PCR.

From Monday anyone who tests positive has to self-isolate for days:

  • Day 0 is the day symptoms were first identified or if no symptoms, the day of the test was taken.
  • If on the morning of Day 5 and 6 your child tests negative on a lateral flow tests they can return to school on Day 6.
  • If Day 5 is positive you need to continue until you have 2 consecutive negative lateral flow tests.

Breakfast Bagel Bar

Every day, children will now be able to choose a free bagel and / or fruit before school from under the canopy in the bottom playground. These will be a simple and quick grab and go – no fuss, easy!!

The breakfast will be available from 8.45am when the playground opens.

  • KS2 children will have up until 8.55am to collect their breakfast.
  • KS1 children will have until 9.10am.

Children will not be able to collect food after these times as they need to be finished eating before they go into class.

Kickstart Scheme

We are passionate about our children and their learning. We want to give them the best start on their learning journey and to open up opportunities that will help each child to reach their potential.  We feel the same way about the young people in our community and want to extend to them a wonderful opportunity to kickstart their careers. We are proud to be supporting the Kickstart Scheme and have made available four fully-funded 6-month placements for young people looking to gain work experience and earn whilst doing so.

We have placements available for Teaching Assistants and a Facilities Assistant. Each placement will receive employability sessions, training and mentoring to support them into the workplace after their placement with us concludes. We are hiring now so if you know anyone aged 16-24 who is currently claiming universal credit and would benefit from this opportunity, please encourage them to get in touch with us or visit our website for more information here: https://www.myattgarden.lewisham.sch.uk/welcome/vacancies/
