Happy Birthday Myatt Garden!
Happy Birthday Myatt Garden!
We are excited to be celebrating our 50th birthday with a whole week of fun activities from 20th – 25th September.
Some key information and dates for your diaries:
Each class will be taking part in their very own 50 challenge – 50 laps of the football cage, 50-minute danceathon, 50 hours without electronics…it could be anything! In the next couple of days, your child(ren) will be bringing home a sponsorship form to tell you what their class will be aiming to achieve. They will also have an envelope to collect their sponsorship money in; please help them to collect a few pennies or pounds from friends, family and neighbours, so we can reach our fundraising target of £500 per year group.
1970s School Dinner
On Wednesday 22nd September, we will be celebrating together with a modern (and delicious!) take on a 1970s themed school dinner. The hall will be decorated and 70s music will be aiding our digestion! Children who usually bring a packed lunch are welcome to join the 1970s dinner, but MUST let us know by Friday this week.
If your child normally has packed lunch, please email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org before Friday. KS2 families will also need to make a payment of £2.30 via Parentpay. This is free for KS1 and Reception.
Our Birthday Party!
Saturday 25th September – 12pm – 3pm
Cost: This a party so all activities – including food – are FREE!
Optional to bring:
Food to share (see details below), picnic rug to place on the bank, T-shirt for printing and fancy dress if you choose.
The Friends of Myatt Garden have done a fabulous job helping us organise our birthday party and we’d love for you all to join us and enjoy the amazing activities:
• Bubble Show and bubble workshop;
• Bouncy Castle;
• Live Music and DJs;
• Mandala stencil printing on T-shirts (bring your own T-shirt or similar);
• 1970s campervan photo booth;
• Face painting;
• 50th anniversary exhibition in the hall;
• Riverford Organic with free prize draw of a veg box and a fruit box, and apples for all to try.
• Fancy dress – 1970s or otherwise – funky bright colours welcomed!
This is a Bring and Share party, so please contribute and donate some food if you can (bring on the day from 10am).
Finger food is best, but it must not contain nuts. Our suggestions include: cakes, cupcakes, sandwiches, doughnuts, sausage rolls, samosas, pakoras, naan/chapattis, corn cakes, saltfish fritters, mini-quiche, chicken drumsticks, cheese and pineapple on sticks, breadsticks, cheese and crackers and bread rolls or similar. We also need soft drinks and will be making homemade lemonade – donations of lemon or sugar can be brought to the office for Friday 17th September.
We need volunteers from each year group to help, and we would be grateful if parents and carers could fill in a slot on this form: https://forms.gle/ucBmVgJRDcnbGyho9.
Activities are allocated to year groups to give parents an opportunity to meet and spend time with other parents in their child’s year group. This will be a fun day, but we can only make it happen with willing volunteers. If you can join us from 9am to help set-up or stay at the end to help clear away we would really appreciate your support.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
