History not only teaches children about the past and about concepts such as continuity and change, it supports and develops critical thinking skills and the skill to carefully consider arguments. Importantly, learning about history also teaches us about bias and enables us to weigh evidence carefully, a vital skill for everyday life.
We work hard to bring history to life in our curriculum. Many of our lessons include the use of artefacts, drama and ‘hands on’ activities. We make extensive use of local museums, historical buildings and more distant historical centres to give our children memorable learning experiences.
