Numeracy
A strong understanding of basic mathematics is an essential life skill and learning maths is fun!
At Myatt Garden, we have adopted the Power Maths programme, which has been approved by the Department of Education. Power Maths is a whole school mastery programme, designed to spark curiosity and excitement, whilst nurturing children’s confidence in maths.
Our curriculum provides a consistent structure for lessons throughout the school. Each lesson is busy and interactive, with children working independently, in pairs, in groups and as a class.
Children develop a deep understanding of concepts, first using concrete apparatus, then representing concepts pictorially and finally by using abstract methods.

Ultimately, we want our children to be confident mathematicians who can manipulate numbers fluently, solve problems and who can use mathematical language to explain their work.
