Our science curriculum provides the foundations for understanding the world, through learning in biology, physics and chemistry.

Children are excited and curious about the world around them; our curriculum supports them to build on this curiosity and develop the key knowledge and conceptual understanding to allow them to hypothesise, test their ideas and provide rational explanations about their findings. Key scientific vocabulary is explicitly taught to allow children to discuss their learning accurately and precisely.

‘Working scientifically’ skills are embedded in each unit and build children’s understanding of the nature, processes and methods for science. Each year group undertakes a variety of scientific investigations, including:

Observing over time;

Pattern seeking;

Identifying, classifying and regrouping;

Comparative and fair testing;

Research using secondary sources.
